Sven Asmus, CTO of the MBCC Group, and Donal Coughlan, Head of Civil and Structural Engineering at Crossrail and Technical Director at Jacobs are the latest additions to the hyperTunnel Technical Board.

Dr. Sven Asmus brings 20+ years’ experience specifically focused on innovation in the construction chemicals industry. Whilst his activities have centered on enhancing concrete performance and production, he previously led the tunnelling division of MBCC. He has gained significant international exposure, especially in Asia, where he spent 11 years. Sven currently oversees MBCC’s global network of R&D centres and leads MBCC’s strive for leadership in construction sustainability.
Donal Coughlan, a chartered engineer with over thirty years’ experience in the design and construction of large-scale civil engineering projects, has led teams on HS1, the DLR Woolwich Arsenal Extension and the Tottenham Court Road Station Upgrade. As Head of Civil and Structural Engineering at Crossrail, he also provides technical support to the HS2 tunnels team. Donal is a Technical Director with Jacobs and is a Fellow of both the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Engineers Ireland.
