Dr Kurt Zeidler, a world-renowned expert in tunnelling and geotechnical engineering, has joined hyperTunnel’s Advisory Board.

Dr Zeidler, who has over 35 years of experience in underground construction, is a principal and co-founder of specialist international subterranean engineering consultancy Gall Zeidler Consultants. Based at GZ’s London headquarters, he oversees the company’s projects in the UK, Europe, and Asia. His primary focus is the design of modern support systems and excavation techniques for tunnels and complex underground structures in urban areas.

He commented, “I’m looking forward to applying my knowledge in tunnelling to help hyperTunnel achieve its potential. I believe the technology hyperTunnel is developing will provide major advantages for underground construction and repair projects. I’m very excited to be part of a game-changing phase in our industry’s journey.”

Dr Zeidler has been an expert advisor on numerous high-profile construction projects, most recently including the Western Rail Link to Heathrow Airport, the UK’s high-speed rail project HS2, the London Underground, the Riyadh Metro, New York’s Trans Hudson Express and the State Railway of Thailand. He holds a doctorship in Geology and Engineering Geology from the University of Salzburg and is a member of six civil engineering, tunnelling, and mining professional bodies.

Dr Zeidler is joined on the Advisory Board by Mark Carne CBE and Nick Cremin.
